Organised by the Laboratoire de Recherche Historique Rhône-Alpes (LARHRA) in collaboration with the Université Libre de Bruxelles, and Erasmus University, Rotterdam
This school aims to provide the research community interested in the study of art markets with an interdisciplinary theoretical approach and methodological tools in line with the most up-to-date analytical methods.
About fifteen international specialists in art history, economics, law, sociology, finance, digital humanities from all over Europe and the United States will animate it in a spirit of exchange and sharing of knowledge.
The training will include theoretical and methodological interventions, open to confrontation and exchange of views. A certificate of attendance will be provided so that doctoral candidates can possibly have their participation validated by their doctoral school.
The mornings will be devoted to theoretical presentations built around concepts and themes central to the analysis of art markets. Specialists from different disciplinary fields will present their approaches in dialogue with colleagues from different backgrounds. As an extension of the theoretical courses, the afternoons will be devoted to methodological approaches in the form of interactive workshops offering practical exercises. Visits and moments of conviviality will be arranged in order to reinforce the coherence of the group
The training is aimed at the entire scientific community – professors-researchers, researchers, post-doctoral fellows, doctoral students, staff of research support (ITA). It should also be of interest for experts and professionals active in the art market.
It is open to all participants from Master 2 level onwards, preferably in a discipline related to the study of art markets: economic history, art history, economics, finance, sociology, law.
Due to the international nature of this training, courses and work will be conducted in English. This provision must not be blocking for participants. The expected level is limited to the ability to understand and be understood in order to be able to participate in exchanges.
Tuition and residence fees
The rates below include the cost of the five days of training, accommodation and meals in residence at Hôtel Valpré.
Transport costs remain the responsibility of the participants.

ART MARKETS : an Integrated Perspective
Ecole thématique
Organisée par le Laboratoire de Recherche Historique Rhône-Alpes (LARHRA) en collaboration avec l’Université Libre de Bruxelles et Erasmus University, Rotterdam
Cette école souhaite apporter à la communauté des chercheurs intéressée par l’étude des marchés artistiques une approche théorique interdisciplinaire et des outils méthodologiques en prise avec les méthodes d’analyses les plus actuelles.
Une quinzaine de spécialistes internationaux en histoire de l’art, sciences économiques, droit, sociologie, finance, humanités numériques viendront l’animer dans un esprit d’échange et de partage des connaissances.
La formation comprendra des interventions théoriques et méthodologiques, ouvertes à la confrontation et à l’échange de points de vue. Elle pourra donner lieu à une attestation de présence afin que les doctorants puissent faire éventuellement valider par leur école doctorale leur participation dans leur parcours de formation.
Les matinées seront consacrées à des exposés théoriques construits autour de notions et de thématiques centrales pour l’analyse des marchés artistiques. Des spécialistes de différents champs disciplinaires présenteront leurs approches en dialogue avec des collègues qui n’ont pas le même bagage. Dans le prolongement des cours théoriques, les après-midis seront consacrés à des approches méthodologiques sous forme d’ateliers interactifs proposant des exercices pratiques.
La formation s’adresse à l’ensemble de la communauté scientifique — enseignants-chercheurs, chercheurs, post-doctorants, doctorants, ITA. Elle concerne également les experts et professionnels du marché de l’art.
Elle est ouverte à tout participants à partir du niveau master 2, relevant de préférence d’une discipline en lien avec l’étude des marchés de l’art : histoire économique, histoire de l’art, sciences économiques, finance, sociologie, droit.
En raison du caractère international de cette formation, cours et travaux seront effectués en anglais. Cette disposition ne doit pas être bloquante pour les participants. Le niveau attendu se limite à la capacité à comprendre et se faire comprendre afin de pouvoir participer aux échanges.
Frais de scolarité et de résidence
Les tarifs ci-dessous comprennent les frais des cinq jours de formation, l’hébergement et les repas en résidence à l’Hôtel Valpré.
